The Nintendo Channel is now part of the Wii Menu. What the Nintendo Channel offers is videos, game information, game searches for both Wii and DS games. The Nintendo Channel will also have player's recommendation on Wii games. User will have a video list where they can select to view videos for games, game trailers and interviews.
Upon the release of the Nintendo Channel, game videos on the list include Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8, We Ski, Carnival games and Rayman Raving Rabbids for the Wii. The Nintendo DS video games included were Nintendogs, Mario Party DS, The Legend of Zelda, Phantom Hourglass, Disney Friends, Animal Crossing Wild World and many more.
Nintendo will also be providing informational videos such has the What is WiiWare video?
WiiWare are new forms of games for families which can be downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel using Wii Points. Some of the games that will be available are LostWinds,Mario Online RX, Defend your Castle, Critter Round-Up. The WiiWare games will be online on May 12th.
Users can also click on the blue button to "Find Titles For You" to get more information about the games that they may be interested in. This will allow users to select from a menu that allows them to view new titles, search by category, search by name, make a recommendation, or the DS download service.
The searching features include searches by category such has platform, game publisher, genre and everyone's recommendations. For example, searching based on platform will let you search for Wii, Wii Channels, Nintendo DS or Virtual Console games and the different game platforms.
Searches by name allow the user to input just partial names and get results of all games within the search criteria. This lets users who do not know the game of the full game they are looking for be able to browser through the list of results for the games.
Players making recommendation on Wii games must have more then one hour of game play. Players get to provide recommendations such has rating on the game, what their gender is and if the game is good for playing alone or with friends to name a few. Rating will then be collected and displayed in pie charts. Users will be able to view ratings based on gender and age. Users will be able to view other players recommendations and the amount of time spent playing the game.
The DS Download Service provides users with videos of games and the option to download demos of the games. You can transfers demos from your Wii to the Nintendo DS. Players will be able to play the DS demos until they turn off the DS.
If you download the Nintendo Channel, you will asked if you permit Nintendo to collect information on you based on the games that you play and the amount of time you play them. Nintendo will now also recommend games, based on that data they collect from your console and playing. Do note you have the option to not allowing Nintendo to collect information on what games you play and own.
