Wii Channels
Nintendo has created the Wii Channels which allow users to interact with their Wii console for more than just playing games. This is what Wii user's will first see when they turn on their Wii's. In total, Nintendo plans on having 48 channels for user's to interact with. User's can now surf the Internet, check out the weather, edit their photos, get the latest news, download past system games and much more with the use of the Wiimote. Using the Wiimote, user's navigate through the different channels.

Photo Channel
The photo channel will allow users to view their digital photos & videos stored on a SD Memory Card through the SD card slot. Using the Wiimote they will be able to downsize and enlarge their photos. In addition, the channel provides editing tools which let the user customize their photos or videos further by allowing you to scribble and add effects to them. Users can also send photos via the Wii Message Board. File formats supported are jpeg, jpg, mov, avi, mp3. The Photo Channel can display a max of about 1,000 photos.

Internet Channel
A special version of Opera internet browser was developed for Wii users to browse the web on their TV using the Wiimote. The Opera browser will provide support for flash and the Wiimote will let users zoom in and out of pages. The Opera browser is currently free but soon user's will have to pay for it with Wii points. The internet channel does require you have an internet connection. Parents concerned with their children accessing the Internet can lock their child out from surfing.

Forecast Channel
Wii users now have their own weather channel brought to them by Wii. This weather service is free and uses basic weather symbols. Users can view the current weather conditions in their region and also view what the weekly forecast is. They also have the option to view what the weather will be like in other locations around the world by rotating the Earth with the use of the Wiimote . The weather channel service does require you have an Internet connection.

News Channel
Now users will have asses to the latest news headlines from around the world for free. Users can use their Wiimote to read the selected news headlines. The News channel service does require you have an Internet connection.

Mii Channel
Wii users create their own avatar, which is referred to as a "Mii." Mii's can be customized, users can select facial features, hairstyles, colors, accessories. Mii can be used in Wii games and can be transferred to your Wiimote and used on other Wii consoles. Mii can also be set to Mii parade so that your friends can see your Miis. Shop Channel
The Wii Shop channel provides it's users the option to browse and download their favorite classic Nintendo games from older console (NES, Super NES, N64) which can be played through the Virtual Console. To download the VC Game they must be purchased using Wii points .

Everybody Votes Channel
The Everybody Votes Channel offers Wii users from all over the world an opportunity to express their opinions by voting on different polls online weekly. Wii users can use their Mii information from the Mii channel to set up six different players who would be able to participate in the voting. This allows friends and family to interact with each other and share opinions. Each user (Mii) will be able to answer a set of questions listed on the channel and get the results online. The results from the voting polls are stored for a period of time, and polling stats such has percentage of votes and prediction accuracy information is provided. The 'Everybody Votes Channel' can be downloaded for free from the Wii Shop Channel.

Check Mii Out Channel
Now you can see what other Wii owners have created for Miis! On the Check Mii Out Channel not only can you view other Miis but you can also choose the most popular and then copy them for your Wii. In addition, you can submit your Miis in different contest online. You can also vote for your favorite Mii. So get started and show us what you can do with your Miis.

Nintendo Channel
